Launching summer 2026
Traffic is not fate. It's a coordination problem.
Freifahrt is the app that tells you when to leave — so you don't get stuck in traffic.
No spam. One email at launch — and only when there's something worth saying.
The problem
We all pay for traffic jams — with time, money and clean air.
40 hrs
every German driver loses to traffic each year. Time no one gets back.
€8 bn
damage to the German economy — every year, from hours lost in traffic.
21%
more CO₂ per hour spent in traffic. Stop-and-go is also a climate problem.
How it works
Three steps. A better drive.
- 1
Enter your route
Tell us where you're going — and where you're leaving from. That's all we need.
- 2
Choose your flexibility
How much time do you have? An hour of slack, a full day, a long weekend?
- 3
Get the best time
We calculate the optimal departure time for you — and show you what you save.
The vision
The more people join, the better it gets for everyone.
Traffic doesn't happen because there are too many cars on the road. It happens because there are too many cars on the same road at the same time. That's a distribution problem — and distribution problems can be solved.
If thousands of us can shift our departure times a little, we coordinate travel waves across the country. Not everyone has to replan. Just enough of us. Then the jam shrinks — for you, for your family, for everyone else too.
5,250
drivers are already on the waitlist.
Frequently asked
What you probably want to know.
Yes. The app is and will stay free for drivers. Our mission only works if as many people as possible take part — a paywall would be in the way.
For the waitlist we only store your email address and the date you signed up. No IP, no tracking, no advertising cookies. Servers are based in Germany.
We launch in Germany. As soon as the data foundation is large enough, we'll expand towards Austria and Switzerland. Other countries will follow if the mission works.
Google Maps answers 'Which route should I take now?'. Freifahrt answers 'When should I leave at all?'. We spread travel waves over time — so traffic jams don't form in the first place.
Launching with the summer holidays 2026. Whoever is on the waitlist gets access first.
We want to stay independent and offer the biggest benefit to everyone. So we'll try to fund ourselves through donations. In the medium term, optional premium features for heavy drivers and businesses will follow. For most users Freifahrt will remain free.
